The Outpatient Care programme in Kano started in June 2022 for a group of 20 Community Health Extension Workers from two primary healthcare facilities. It was successfully completed by March 2023.

A second phase of this project started in 2024, in three new health centres with 30 learners. With those two groups, the total number of learners who have successfully completed the programme in Nigeria is 50.

In December 2024, a new phase of the implementation started for 16 participants. This time, a blended learning approach is being used: the e-learning course is used for the theoretical content, while clinical mentoring continues taking place in-person in the health centres.
