Maternity Clinical Care

The Maternity Clinical Care programme began in April 2024, with more than 60 midwives enrolled, most of whom worked for the Ministry of Health. The cohort also included 12 MSF staff from other Sahel countries who were detached to Bobo-Dioulasso for the duration of the training.

The programme was delivered in the newly constructed maternity ward at the hospital supported by MSF. It was also the first time the MSF Academy had implemented the programme in French.

For this implementation, the MSF Academy collaborated with other learning initiatives in Bobo-Dioulasso, particularly the MSF Field Simulation project, to incorporate simulation-based activities and provide the best possible learning experience for participants. The MSF Academy also worked closely with other training initiatives involved in the project, including MSF’s Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and Zero Separation programmes, to ensure alignment across capacity-building programmes.

In 2025, 71 participants successfully completed the programme.
