DR Congo

_____________

In 2024, the MSF Academy for Healthcare began preparations to implement the Outpatient Care learning programme in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the North Kivu district. Due to security concerns, the implementation was temporarily put on hold.

Finally, in July 2025, the programme was launched in two health centres in Kibirizi and Bambo, with six and five learners respectively.

Given the security constraints that limit movement, in DR Congo the OPD learning programme uses a blended learning approach, already piloted and implemented in other countries. The theoretical content is delivered online through e-learning modules, interactive activities, case-based scenarios and simulations.

The MSF Academy team also conducts weekly group sessions at the centres to reinforce the knowledge gained. Additionally, individual clinical mentoring sessions are held weekly with each learner in the health centre.
